General Careers Event Information
Ask your questions to senior lawyers who have experience of recruiting graduates!
Whatever stage you are at, whether just starting out or actively applying for internships, placements or graduate jobs, the opportunity to speak to experienced lawyers is hugely valuable – find out how they chose their chosen profession, what they look for in future lawyers and any guidance they can offer for successfully navigating the application process.
Before you head off for your spring break, take this excellent opportunity to sign up for a 15-minute informal virtual chat with one of our team of senior lawyers.
1. Anne Waltham is a senior solicitor who has spent her entire career working for leading international City firms and has been a partner with Lovells and her current firm, Gowling WLG.
Anne’s experience navigating a successful career in the City as a commercial (property) litigator will be valuable to all aspiring solicitors, particularly those interested in pursuing a career in larger national and international law firms, commercial litigation, and working with large clients.
2.Geoffrey Green is a highly regarded corporate lawyer and the former senior partner of global law firm Ashurst. Geoffrey also served as Managing Partner, Asia for Ashurst, based in Hong Kong. He has extensive experience as a corporate lawyer, particularly advising on M&A transactions in the UK and internationally.
Geoffrey’s experience leading a global law firm both in the UK and Asia regions, together with his expertise working on large cross-border corporate transactions, will be invaluable to students aspiring to pursue a legal career in the UK or overseas.
3. Debra Williamson is a senior solicitor who has built her career supporting clients in the local community while working at leading regional and national law firms.
Her expertise spans both criminal law and private client law. Debra was a Criminal Law Partner at Hine Solicitors and played a key role in transforming the firm into a full-service legal practice with 17 offices and over 200 staff.
In 2019 Debra founded MDW Solicitors, specialising in Wills, Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Inheritance Tax planning and Trusts. She continues to practise criminal law as a consultant with a leading regional firm.
