Law Commission Workshop (Law Week 2026)
The Law Commission is the statutory independent body created by the Law Commissions Act 1965 to keep the law of England and Wales under review and to recommend reform where it is needed. The aim of the Commission is to ensure that the law is: fair, modern, simple and cost effective.
Every year the Law Commission recruits several Research Assistants who join the team working across a range of projects.
Led by Dr Andrea Preziosi (a lawyer in the Criminal Law Team) and Rick Ayers (Research Assistant), this interactive session will introduce you to the work of the Commission and work of the Research Assistants.
Format:
- Presentation on Law Commission/Research Assistant recruitment process
- Case study on weddings drawing from our completed project
- Workshop on homicide, a law and policy discussion with students, ongoing project
